Marine Traffic around Nämdö

There are several boat-taxi companies who will take you where you want, when you want.

(Price example: from Stavsnäs to Sand: SEK 1440:- incl.moms (kl 06-24),
but you are recommended to compare the prices of several companies !)

The best natural harbor is Långvik on the northern coast of the island.
You can make temporary visits to the guest jettys located at:

• Östanviks farm
• Solvik at the store
• Sand

Many countries in Europe have public rights of way, in other words the public has access to private land where no damage is likely to result and prohibition would be unreasonable. Please consider what the swedish "allemansrätt" means: not to disturb, not to destroy, but to show consideration and respect.

In the summertime there is also a "North-South" tour in the archipelago, from Nynäshamn in the south to Arholma in the north.

In Sand, at the "Old School" there is a garden café, open daily during high season.

Your own picnic basket will be easily filled with products from:

• Tempo Nämdö Livs, Solvik
• östanviks Gårdsbutik (Farm Shop)

Cottage rentals and B&B are offered at several places, see list of companies or contact tourist information.

Groups can rent the local community center Hembygdsgården or engage Rögrunds Gästhem or Idöborg Konferens & Retreat.

You are allowed to camp for 1-2 nights out of hear- and sight range from buildings, without he land owners permission.

There are plenty of woods and meadow land, but do not camp on meadows that are used for agriculture.

Good places to camp are:

• eastern beach at Långvik
• at Östanvik Farm at the cape close to the jetty

There is no founded beach, but a number of good swimming places:

• at Nämdö Böte, rocks and small sandy beach
• at Östanviks Farm, rocks and shallow bay
• at Kyrknäset, shallow bay with rocks and sandy soil
• at Långvik, sandy soil.

There is a public sauna at Långvik, run by the "Skärgårdsstiftelsen"(Archipelago Foundation).

Fresh water can be collected:

• in a pump at Långvik
• at the museeum in Gamla Skolan, Sand

Garbage disposal containers with dry toilets are located at:

• Långvik at northwestern beach
• at Östanviks Farm
• in Solvik

Disability corrected dry toilet is located along the road at Kyrknäset.

In Sand there is a garbage disposal shed and recycling boxes for glass.

For the devoted garbage sorter, it should be mentioned that there are recycling containers of all kinds in Stavsnäs, if you should happen to pass by.
